This is Charlotte, the founding member of the Elevated Wellness Collective. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Health Science with a focus on pre-medicine from Cleveland State University, as well as an Associate of Science and an Associate of Art degree. She also spent two years as a student doctor in Oregon before facing challenges with an autoimmune flare-up.
Charlotte brings more than 10 years of experience working in the health care field. She began as a nurses aid in an assisted living community, went on to work at The Cleveland Clinic, and then served as a chiropractic assistant in a chiropractor's office before becoming an independent contractor. That time inside mainstream care shaped how she practices today: informed, professional, and grounded in respect for both clinical and holistic paths to healing.
Her path into Kambo and Reiki became personal when she was diagnosed with a chronic auto-immune disease, known as Multiple Sclerosis. After an MRI revealed new lesions during her second year of medical school, she became a subject in 'The World's First Kambo Study', and saw stabilized MRIs and diminished anxiety scores firsthand. She trained under the neuroscientist leading that research, Caitlin Thompson, and spent time living with indigenous people in Peru to study the Kambô frog in its natural habitat.
A Reiki Master since 2017, she learned through the Traditional Usui Mikao lineage from her teacher Maryann Sender, whose own training traces back to the original school of Mikao Usui. Reiki became another pillar of her healing after MS. Reiki is a gentle and accepted form of complementary healing that has helped her and many others regulate the nervous system. Even renowned hospitals like The Cleveland Clinic offer Reiki services. She now supports others in doing the same.
Charlotte is also a mother, and through her own journey she has noticed what may be a link between Kambo and fertility. More research needs to be done in this field, but many others in the community have shared the same observation. It's a quiet thread she continues to explore with curiosity and care.

A 2017 peer-reviewed review by David E. McManus, PhD, examined clinical Reiki studies with more than 20 participants that controlled for a placebo effect. Of the 13 suitable studies, 8 found Reiki more effective than placebo, 4 found no difference but had questionable statistical resolving power, and only 1 provided clear evidence of no benefit.
Reiki is a safe, gentle, and profoundly relaxing healing modality that can be practiced by anyone who has received an "attunement" from a Reiki master. This review has found reasonably strong evidence for Reiki being more effective than placebo, suggesting that Reiki attunement leads to a quantifiable increase in healing ability.
Reiki is better than placebo in activating the parasympathetic nervous system, as measured by reduced heart rate, reduced blood pressure, and increased heart rate variability. For patients with chronic health conditions, Reiki has been found to be more effective than placebo for reducing pain, anxiety, and depression, and for improving self-esteem and quality of life. According to the neurovisceral integration model and the polyvagal theory, these effects are due to higher parasympathetic nervous system activity, mediated via the vagus nerve.
This understanding suggests that Reiki has the potential to provide valuable support for a broad range of chronic health conditions. However, there is no justification to regard Reiki as a cure for any health condition. Instead, Reiki should be regarded as a complementary therapy that can be implemented alongside all other medical and therapeutic techniques.
Further research is recommended to help optimize the application of Reiki for specific health conditions and to examine the benefits arising from provision of multiple Reiki sessions over an extended period of time.

New to Reiki? A 45 or 60 minute session is recommended for your first visit so we have plenty of time to connect before beginning.

Sessions are conducted through a private video call, allowing us to connect before and after your session. During the Reiki portion, you're welcome to turn off your camera, close your eyes, and relax in a quiet, comfortable space.

"These experiences forever changed my understanding of this medicine and the importance of honoring its cultural roots", Charlotte shares.

Charlotte is collaborating with and fellow Kambo Practitioner Matthew DeRubertis, who will lead this Kambô cycle retreat at a beautiful remote cabin. Tentative dates January 15 to 17, 2027, details to come.

1 week update: stress levels still at like a 1-2 year low. This was my main goal. Patience with some of my coworkers was hanging on by a thread and I feel like the frog threw me a brand new rope. Cravings for junk food are almost non-existent and my desire for alcohol is basically gone. I haven't wanted to drink to decompress all week.
Prior to Kambo I was feeling apathetic and kinda numb, definitely depressed and anxious. The past week I've felt grounded yet energized in a way that feels very clear and clean. It's been a beautiful shift that was much needed.
